David Åhman and Jonatan Hellvig beat the Australian pair Paul Burnett and Thomas Hodges 2–0 in sets (21–8, 21–15).
David Åhman has had problems with his knee and the Swedes have therefore not played a match on the world tour since August.
And ahead of the World Cup, he has not been able to train fully, more than in parts of three or four sessions.
But he has learned to ride a bike so he will be able to ride a bike here too, coach Anders Kristiansson told SVT before the match.
Åhman did the same.
"Knees felt uncertain during the warm-up. But then it went great. Of course you feel a little pain in your knee, but it went well anyway. You just tried to ignore it if it hurt a little," he says.
I was determined and forced myself to go all out. You have to give it your all, then you can get away from uncertainty.
The first set went easily, but at the beginning of the second set the Australians kept pace with the Swedes. But after 4–4 Åhman and Hellvig pulled away to 13–8 which eventually became 21–15 and victory in the match.
The Swedes now face two Brazilian teams in the upcoming matches, on Saturday André Stein and Renato Lima and on Sunday Sayman Barbusa and George Wanderley.
