At 9pm tonight, another round of negotiations will begin in the hope of reaching a European consensus. The deal effectively means that the US will impose a 15 percent tariff on most European goods.

"This is not a dream deal from our perspective. We will get the highest tariffs in 85 years. But the alternative is even worse," says Foreign Trade Minister Benjamin Dousa (M), who is pushing for a quick European go-ahead.

We need to get this done as quickly as possible.

The US is also pushing.

"A deal is a deal," wrote the US Embassy to the EU in a post on X.

US President Donald Trump has demanded that the EU approve the deal by July 4th.
