Golf legend Annika Sörenstam is the host of the tournament – and after the first round, it's also high up on the Swedish leaderboard.
Maja Stark kicked off the LPGA tour event in Florida – "The Annika" – with a round of 66 strokes, four under par. This places the 24-year-old Scanian on a shared fifth place after 18 holes.
Up to the leading duo, Korean Jiwon Jeon and English Charley Hull on –6, it's only two strokes. Among the other six Swedish players in the tournament, Linn Grant and amateur Louise Rydqvist are doing best, one stroke under par.
The tournament is the last one before the season's 60 best players compete in the LPGA tour's final event, also in Florida, next week. Maja Stark is in 16th place in the season's "Race to the CME Globe" and has already secured a spot there.
Not all competitors managed to complete the first round, which was interrupted due to darkness.
