Water consumption in the area has not decreased, despite previous warnings of water shortages.
"We need to limit water use and stop wasting it. From now on, we will have to make do with the water that is currently in the lakes. There will be no replenishment of the lakes until the end of October or the beginning of November," says Sydvatten CEO Mattias Leijon in a press release.
Sydvatten urges residents in western Skåne to turn off the tap when brushing their teeth, shaving, and peeling potatoes, to take shorter showers and run dishwashers and washing machines only when they are full.
