This according to a Lex Maria investigation that the hospital has submitted to the Health and Care Inspectorate.

The gynaecological pathologist was understaffed for a longer period, which led to high workload and stress. This has meant that staff have not been able to work with quality assurance, according to the documents that P4 Uppland has taken part of.

Already in September 2022, doctors in women's healthcare sounded the alarm that the pathologist's analysis answers had become unclear and difficult to interpret. The meeting between the pathologist and women's healthcare that led to the investigation starting took place only a year and a half later.

Akademiska Hospital in Uppsala has discovered a total of 44 cases where women have had their uterus incorrectly removed. The cases are from 2022, 2023, and 2024.
