Setzer, 66, was diagnosed earlier this year with an unspecified autoimmune disease that makes it impossible for him to play the guitar. Now, the rockabilly band Stray Cats announces that the planned autumn tour in the USA must be cancelled.
"I know this affects so many people and I am devastated to have to announce this news. I have tried everything to be able to perform the concerts, but it is simply not possible", Setzer wrote on X.
The band had initially cancelled two performances but decided on Tuesday to cancel the entire tour. Stray Cats – with Setzer, Lee Rocker and Slim Jim Phantom – was formed in 1979 and reunited most recently in 2019 for their 40th anniversary. Recently, they released two new songs, "Stampede" and a cover of Eddie Cochran's "Teenage Heaven".
