"It is common for supervisory cases to run over several meetings, so this is nothing remarkable. I understand the interest in this case, but we cannot say more at this time. The cathedral chapter does not discuss the content of cases that are under preparation," says the chairman of the case, judge Lars Seger, in a press release.
The meeting was held on Thursday.
Birgitta Ed, who is married to Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson (M), has been employed as a priest and business developer at Strängnäs Cathedral Administration with Aspö since 2023.
The cathedral chapter, which supervises the activities of the diocese's parishes, had received 29 reports against Ed's activities at the so-called Fållökna Foundation, reports SVT Sörmland .
Aftonbladet has revealed that the foundation is recruiting volunteers who work for free to renovate a mansion outside Malmköping owned by Ed and a close friend of hers, in exchange for "a good network."
The cathedral chapter's investigation will, among other things, answer whether Ed's activities at the foundation are compatible with her priestly vows. The next meeting of the cathedral chapter will take place on September 17.
