The Biathlon World Cup restarts after the Christmas break this week. And for the women, it will be earlier than planned.
The women's sprint is moved from Friday to Thursday afternoon as storms are expected to affect the Oberhof area later in the week.
"Due to a weather forecast of strong gusts of wind for January 9, 2026, the competition schedule for the Biathlon World Cup in Oberhof has been changed," the International Biathlon Union (IBU) wrote in a statement.
The women's sprint will now be held on Thursday at 2:15 p.m. The men, originally scheduled to compete on Thursday afternoon, will therefore have to move their start time forward by a few hours. The men's sprint will start at 11:30 a.m.
