During the weekend, storm Amy will arrive in Sweden – with heavy rain and gusts as a result.

It is the remains of the tropical hurricane Humberto, outside the US east coast, which during the night to Thursday appears to form a new low-pressure area that the British weather institute Met Office has named Amy, says Emma Härenstam, meteorologist at SMHI.

On Saturday, Amy reaches Sweden.

It will be in the form of an extensive rain area and increasing south wind, says Emma Härenstam.

Since the low-pressure area has not been formed yet, the uncertainty for the forecast is large. The southern and central parts of Sweden seem to get the most trouble, with up to about 15 to 20 meters per second in gusts and rain.

It will absolutely be perceived as heavy rain when it passes on Saturday.

Then it is followed by heavy showers even on Sunday.

What can be said with certainty is that it will be autumn gusts – it will be rain and it will be wind.

No warnings have yet been issued by SMHI, but according to Emma Härenstam, it is "highly likely" to reach warning level regarding the winds in the mountain areas, where it can also occur snow in the precipitation.
