On Saturday, the storm Amy is expected to reach Sweden. Already now, cancelled trains and ferries are being planned for on Saturday.

SMHI expands its warnings for very windy weather and now also includes eastern Gotland and Öland. On Skagerrak, warnings are issued for hurricane gusts during the night until Saturday.

On Öland, the warning applies from Saturday morning until early evening. There, gusts can reach 23–26 meters per second. On eastern Gotland, it is expected to be windiest during Saturday evening.

The yellow warning, which has been in effect since earlier, for strong winds over western Götaland and southwestern Svealand remains. A yellow warning has also been issued for eastern Svealand.

It seems that it is mainly along the west coast and Skåne's south coast, very close to the coast. There, storm gusts can occur from Saturday morning and until Saturday afternoon, says Max Lindberg Stoltz, meteorologist at SMHI.

A bit inland, very strong gusts are expected in the same area.

The peak seems to be reached sometime during the morning, but it will of course be very windy both before and after that.

Canceled trains

Trains will be canceled in both eastern and western Sweden, according to Trafikverket.

This applies from midnight and for a day ahead, says Pär Aronsson, press officer at Trafikverket.

In the eastern parts, it concerns the Stångådalsbanan, Tjustbanan, and Nyköpingsbanan. In western Sweden, trains are canceled on the routes Varberg–Borås, Borås–Herrljunga, Håkantorp–Gårdsjö, and Öxnered–Uddevalla during the Saturday day.

Destination Gotland cancels four departures during Saturday, reports P4 Gotland. Between Strömstad and Sandefjord, the shipping company Colorline cancels two departures during Saturday, according to Sandefjords Blad.

Heavy rain

Partly, it will also rain a lot, but not so much that SMHI issues a warning. In some places, it can rain 30–40 millimeters.

It would have been a warning if it had come in just a few hours, but now it will be more spread out, says Max Lindberg Stoltz.

However, he flags that a warning for large amounts of rain over Västernorrland may come during the second half of Saturday and the first half of Sunday.

There, 50 millimeters and possibly locally up to 70 millimeters of rain can occur during the day.
