"The negotiations concern a plan to permanently close pulp production at fiber line 3 (L3) and restructure the organization to focus on fluff pulp and improve competitiveness," Stora Enso writes.
Stora Enso justifies the decision by citing reduced demand for pulp in Europe since 2023 and higher wood costs.
“Our goal is to focus on fluff pulp on our two other production lines to improve Skutskär's long-term competitiveness,” says business unit manager Timo Tidenberg in the press release.
Stora Enso has approximately 370 employees in Skutskär.
