Stockholm's waterworks are in very poor condition and in acute need of renovation. The concrete in the facilities on Lovön and Norsborg is falling apart. On Lovön, the roof of the reservoirs and the floor of the pools are supported by over 200 steel poles as a temporary solution, reports P4 Stockholm.
Now, renovations for 20 billion kronor are being planned to take place until 2050 to secure the Stockholmers' access to drinking water. A new waterworks on Lovön is also being investigated.
If we didn't do anything, an acute situation could arise, but now we are planning for extensive investments in our waterworks to avoid this, says Christian Rockberger, CEO of Stockholm water and waste, to the radio.
