The Stockholm Stock Exchange opens Wednesday's trading slightly lower. The appliance chain Clas Ohlson falls heavily after this morning's report.

After a few minutes of trading, the broad OMXS index has fallen 0.4 percent. Clas Ohlson is the heaviest on the downside, falling just over 10 percent.

On the large-cap list OMXS30, there are small movements. On the plus side, up 0.6 percent, are the mining company Boliden and the engineering group ABB, up 0.2 percent. The defense group Saab is down 1.6 percent after Tuesday's rise.

The cautious opening follows the pattern of recent days from both the US and the leading stock exchanges in Asia, where trading has been cautious in anticipation of tonight's interest rate announcement from the US central bank, the Fed.

The market and economists expect the Fed to make a 25-point cut.

The leading stock markets in Asia have a mixed but generally cautious development in the morning. Tokyo's Nikkei 225 is down 0.5 percent and Hong Kong's Hang Seng is up 0.3 percent.

US stock markets closed relatively unchanged on Tuesday. The S&P 500 fell 0.1 percent and the Nasdaq rose 0.1 percent.

One dollar costs 9.34 kronor on Wednesday and one euro costs 10.88 kronor.
