Rising oil prices and interest rates put pressure on the Stockholm Stock Exchange yesterday. On Friday, sentiment is much more upbeat.
Among the most-traded stocks in the OMXS30 index, mining group Boliden rose the most in early trading, up 2.5 percent. Telecom company Ericsson gained 2.3 percent, while Assa Abloy rose 2.2 percent.
Telecom operators Telia and Tele2 moved in the opposite direction, falling 2.8 and 1.6 percent, respectively. Defense group Saab was also down 0.1 percent.
The price of North Sea oil (Brent crude) rose sharply on Thursday, partly amid increased concerns about the situation in the Persian Gulf. It has since fallen back slightly and was trading at just over $103 a barrel on Friday morning.
The Swedish economy grew by 1.1 percent in August compared with the previous month, according to the GDP indicator published by Statistics Sweden this morning.
