The OMXS index rose 0.1 percent after a few minutes of trading.

Among major companies, mining company Boliden was up 1.5 percent. Pharmaceutical company AstraZeneca was also up, gaining 1.3 percent.

Defense group Saab plunged 3.6 percent, while game developer Evolution lost 3.1 percent.

Oil prices surged last week after renewed attacks on Saudi Arabia by the Iran-backed Houthi movement in Yemen. The concerns sent oil prices soaring to their highest levels in months. Oil prices have since fallen back slightly and were trading at just over $115 a barrel on Monday morning.
