Stockholm Stock Exchange Opens with Gains as OMXS Index Rises

The Stockholm stock exchange begins Wednesday's trading with rising prices. After a few minutes of trading, the broad OMXS index has risen 0.3 percent.

On the list of major companies OMXS30, the upturn is led by the defense group Saab, which is up 1.8 percent. Right behind is the technology solutions group Addtech, which is up 0.9 percent.

Among the losers are the pharmaceutical company Astra Zeneca, which is down 0.7 percent, and the mining company Boliden, which is down 0.7 percent.

Later today, a long-awaited message from the US central bank Federal Reserve is expected, where the market has priced in a reduction of the interest rate.

This morning, it was announced that the security company Verisure will be listed on the Stockholm Stock Exchange. In connection with the listing, the company will issue new shares for 3.1 billion euro, equivalent to approximately 34 billion kronor, according to a press release.

The development on the leading stock exchanges in Asia has been mixed during the night and morning. The Tokyo Nikkei 225 index is down 0.1 percent, while the Hang Seng index in Hong Kong is up 1.9 percent.

The New York Stock Exchange fell slightly on Tuesday. The broad S&P 500 index and Nasdaq's technology-heavy composite index both lost 0.1 percent, while the Dow Jones industrial index fell 0.3 percent.

A dollar costs 9.24 kronor on Wednesday and a euro costs 10.95 kronor.
