Stockholm Stock Exchange Rises 1.1% as European Markets Gain

The Stockholm Stock Exchange rose sharply on Friday. The broad OMXS index closed 1.1 percent higher. Major stock exchanges across Europe also rose.

Of the most heavily traded stocks on the OMXS30, defense group Saab rose 2.9 percent.

Investor, the powerhouse of the Wallenberg sphere, released its interim report this morning and rose 2.3 percent. The company will also buy shares worth the equivalent of SEK 3.5 billion in venture capital firm EQT, which rose 3.3 percent.

Among smaller companies, nuclear engineering company Studsvik was one of the winners, up 4.6 percent. It has signed a billion-krona deal with Norway’s Norsk nukleær dekommisjonering for spent nuclear fuel.

At the close in Stockholm, stock markets in Frankfurt, London and Paris had also risen. In New York, two of the three major indexes had instead fallen.

Friday’s rise meant the Stockholm Stock Exchange gained 1.5 percent over the week.
