On the OMXS30 list of the most traded stocks, telecom operators Tele2 and Telia fell the most, both down 2.1 percent. Technology trading company Addtech also had a tough day, losing 1.8 percent.
At the other end, mining equipment company Epiroc rose 1.8 percent and pharmaceutical company AstraZeneca rose 1.7 percent.
Distrust that the US and Iran can agree on an end to the fighting in the Persian Gulf is pushing oil futures prices higher. A barrel of North Sea oil costs just over $86 after rising 3.3 percent during the day.
At the close in Stockholm, the stock exchanges in Frankfurt and Paris were up while London fell. In New York, two of the three major indexes have fallen.
