Stockholm Stock Exchange falls 1.4% as AI jitters hit global markets

Following Wednesday's stock market crash on Wall Street, the Stockholm Stock Exchange is also falling. However, the decline is mild compared with the US markets, with the OMXS index down 1.4 percent.

AI jitters caused leading Wall Street indices to post their worst trading day since April 2025. The decline has spread to Asian markets, with both the Seoul and Tokyo stock exchanges falling sharply. Futures trading on Wall Street also points to further declines.

On the Stockholm Stock Exchange, which is far less focused on technology and AI, the decline has eased to 1.4 percent. The large-cap OMXS30 index, meanwhile, fell 1.5 percent. Among this morning’s corporate news, Alfa Laval announced it is buying Norwegian company Navtor for just over SEK 6.85 billion. Alfa Laval’s share is down 0.8 percent.
