As the first region in the country, the Stockholm Police is starting a special unit that will work only on honor crimes. These are serious cases requiring specialized handling, says National Police Chief Petra Lundh.

Since 2022, the Stockholm police have had a reinforcement team focused on honor-related crime. Now a specific group is starting that will work only on honor crimes. Twelve police officers will be part of the group.

They should be good at investigating so that we can get more convictions, but it is also about preventive work with social services, among other things, Petra Lundh tells TT.

Hilda Lundgren Ramsten is the regional coordinator for honor crimes at the Stockholm police.

"Honor-related crime is complex. It is collective in nature; it is not like the crimes in close relationships that we are used to investigating. It requires special expertise," she says.
