Together with his handler, Jesper Wretman, Sid has tracked down perpetrators, found weapons and helped solve several serious crimes. In one incident, Sid may also have saved his handler’s life.

During a chase after a fleeing suspect, Jesper Wretman ended up in deep water and was held underwater by the suspected perpetrator. Sid attacked the suspect, allowing Wretman to get his head above the surface.

"I was very shocked and very happy. You feel a great sense of pride," Jesper Wretman says in a press release about the award.

Sid, who is almost four and a half years old, has been in service since May 2024.

The award is presented by the Swedish Police Authority and the Swedish Kennel Club.
