Hilma af Klint's paintings attract large audiences both domestically and internationally. Erik af Klint, chairman of the foundation that owns and manages her more than 1,300 paintings, wants to end this.
A statement in the board's statutes saying that the art should be shown to "those seeking spiritual knowledge" means, according to the chairman, that public exhibitions are not permitted. He told DN last year that he wants the paintings to be placed in a temple and no longer displayed publicly.
The Stockholm County Administrative Board has now completed its supervision of the foundation and concludes that continued exhibitions are, on the contrary, compatible with the statutes, since people interested in art can be considered to be seeking "spiritual knowledge".
