Maxim's CEO Ellen Tejle tells the newspaper that the renovation of the premises cost 27 million kronor more than budgeted. Hundreds of people contributed a total of six million kronor in an attempt to save Maxim, but it was not enough.

"We hope an operator steps in and buys the bankruptcy estate as soon as possible. We hope to be able to hand over the baton to a new operator who will take over the program for the fall and continue to run Maxim in the same spirit," Tejle tells SvD.

The concert venue was saved from closure in 2022 when a new ownership group led by Tejle took over.
