Several major listed companies released their quarterly reports this morning.

Among the winners, telecom operator Telia stood out, rising 0.7 percent. However, the report from paper company Essity did not meet expectations – the stock price fell 4.8 percent.

Outside the OMXS30 list of the most traded stocks, reporting machinery manufacturer Husqvarna lost 2.6 percent, while Finnish telecom equipment manufacturer Nokia plummeted 10 percent after its report.

On Wednesday, Stockholm rose 1.6 percent, following a 0.6 percent increase on Tuesday. Trading was closed on Monday.

At the close of trading in Stockholm on Thursday, the major European stock exchanges – Frankfurt, London, and Paris – were all up.

The US stock markets rose significantly on Wednesday evening after President Donald Trump spoke about lower tariffs on China and toned down threats to fire Jerome Powell, head of the US central bank Federal Reserve (Fed).

After the opening on Wall Street on Thursday, the three major indexes have risen 0.6 to 1.8 percent.

The Stockholm stock exchange has fallen 4.6 percent since the turn of the year, including Thursday's decline. The S&P 500 index on Wall Street has fallen 7.3 percent since the turn of the year.
