Among the most traded gainers in Stockholm are machinery manufacturer Epiroc and mining group Boliden, up 3.4 and 2.0 percent respectively.
The housing site Hemnet – one of the year's biggest losers on the stock market – rose by 2.9 percent after news of new ad models and major staff cuts.
Wall Street closed sharply lower on Monday, pointing to a decline in leading Asian stock markets overnight into Tuesday.
The price of North Sea oil is up 1.5 percent to $106.90 per barrel. The yield on 10-year US government bonds is hovering around 5.25 percent – after a peak of 5.27 percent on Monday.
