The market is gearing up for Wednesday evening's interest rate announcement from the US Federal Reserve (Fed). In the fixed-income market - where pricing gives a 90 percent probability of a hike in the US policy rate tonight - long-term interest rates are pointing slightly downward.
However, long-term interest rates have been pushed up to their highest levels since the financial crisis in large parts of the Western world ahead of Wednesday - which is lowering risk appetite globally.
The sharp price increases for oil - due to major supply disruptions in the Middle East - have taken a break. The price of North Sea oil (Brent) is down 0.5 percent to $108 per barrel.
On Tuesday, the Stockholm Stock Exchange fell for the second day in a row, down 0.1 percent for the OMXS index. Since the beginning of the year, the OMXS index has risen 6.5 percent.
