The opera is written by composer Steve Reich and video artist Beryl Korot, and premiered in 1993.

"It's a groundbreaking work that deals as much with our history as with our contemporary time", says conductor Christian Karlsen in a press release.

In the opera, Jews, Muslims, and Christians each tell their story in an act about their common history, and about their relationship to the religious patriarch Abraham/Ibrahim and the holy site of the Cave of the Patriarchs near Hebron, where he is traditionally buried.

The premiere takes place on October 16 at Eskilstuna Theatre. There will also be performances in Nyköping, Katrineholm, Stockholm, and Gothenburg.
