On Friday, Colbert appeared as host of an episode of the local television program "Only in Monroe," about life in Monroe, Michigan.
"It's been 23 unbearable hours without being on television," he said at the end of the broadcast, The New York Times reported.
"The Late Show" was canceled after 11 years for financial reasons, according to CBS. Colbert has also been a vocal critic of Donald Trump, calling for him to be fired. On Saturday, the White House posted a fabricated video on X showing U.S. President Donald Trump throwing Colbert into a dumpster.
