The car group Stellantis is pausing the production of the SUVs Alfa Romeo Tonale and Fiat Panda from Monday. Weak demand is stated as the reason.

The message comes after a meeting with trade union counterparts at the factory in Pomigliano in Italy.

The production capacity will now be adjusted to avoid overproduction, according to Stellantis.

The group simultaneously confirms information that production is stopped at the Poissy factory outside Paris – where, among other things, Opel cars are produced – during the period 13–31 October with reference to a "difficult" European market.

Among Stellantis' car brands are also Chrysler, Jeep and Dodge, which are struggling with declining demand, increased costs and disruptions in the supply chains in the USA as a result of the Trump administration's tariffs.
