74-year-old Skarsgård receives the award for his "masterful acting" in Joachim Trier's film.
"It's wonderful, this film that is so low-key - in this constant noise of screaming and violence, it's a whisper. And it's apparently a whisper that many have heard," Skarsgård tells DN.
Skarsgård's role in the Norwegian family drama has previously earned him an Oscar nomination, a British BAFTA nomination, a Golden Globe and an EFA (European Film Academy Award).
DN's Culture Prize has been awarded since 2007.
