Dolly Parton died on Tuesday at the age of 80 after a short illness. In a post on social media, Stella Parton wrote that her sister was thinking of others until the end and wanted doctors to test experimental drugs in the hope of helping future cancer patients.
"My sister was one of the most generous, caring and kind people I have ever met. She was always thinking of others and if you want to pay tribute to her - show more kindness, encourage others and give more of your time and resources, just as she did until the end," writes Stella Parton.
Following the news of Parton's death, flags have been flown at half-staff in the United States and fans have gathered at the Dollywood theme park to mourn the singer.
