The decision means that the factory, which is currently being built, has been labeled as strategically important for the EU's climate goals.
According to the Swedish Agency for Economic and Regional Growth, the factory will result in significant reductions in carbon dioxide emissions from industrial processes over time, while also reducing Europe's need to import raw materials. The project will also contribute to phasing out fossil fuels from steel production.
