Stegra, which profiles itself as the green Swedish steel company, will buy iron ore from the Brazilian Vale, which is blacklisted by several major fund giants.

Mining giant Vale has had a tarnished reputation for several years, among other things after several dam accidents where hundreds of people lost their lives and the environmental damage was significant, writes Affärsvärlden.

The Norwegian oil fund, as well as the AP funds and some banks, have blacklisted the company and invest no money in Vale.

Despite this, Stegra will buy in a certain part of the iron ore from the Brazilian company for its steel production, among other things as a consequence of Swedish LKAB refusing Stegra to buy ore from there.

For the production that we start, a certain ore quality is needed and the companies we work with meet that, says Stegra's communications manager Karin Hallstan to Affärsvärlden.
