In a longer post on Facebook, the Olympic gold medallist gives his view of the events in Gothenburg, which resulted in a police report for assault.
"I will seek professional help for my problems," he concludes the post.
It was on Saturday evening that Holm met Persson by the lifts adjacent to the Book Fair. According to witnesses cited by SVT, the former high jump star jumped on Persson and put him in a stranglehold. Afterwards, the incident was reported to the police and Stefan Holm's remaining participation in the fair was cancelled.
I apologize.
"You shouldn't fight, you shouldn't jump on anyone the way I did yesterday. For this I would like to apologise. Partly to Emil Persson, partly to the Book Fair and others present, partly to my wife who loves the Book Fair even more than I do and who because of me didn't get to experience the last day of the year at the fair," writes Holm.
Holm's anger stems from an interview that Persson did with former high jumper Patrik Sjöberg in 2018, where Persson jokingly asks Sjöberg if he would like to murder Stefan Holm and his son.
Afterwards, Persson contacted Holm and apologised, which Holm now confirms, but the high jump star was not prepared to accept the apology and told Persson to "go to hell."

It's not the first time Stefan Holm has had temper problems, he admits. In May 2024, he was reported for assault by a student at a school in Karlstad where he was a substitute teacher. The preliminary investigation was later closed.
"I have occasionally lost my temper in other contexts over the years, as everyone who knows me knows, but it doesn't happen often these days. However, I have never hit anyone," Holm writes.
