The state has paid almost a billion kronor in salary costs after the Northvolt bankruptcy.

According to Dagens Nyheter's compilation, almost 750 million kronor have been paid via the wage guarantee to 4,637 former employees of the bankrupt battery manufacturer.

In addition to this, there are employer contributions, so the total bill lands at nearly one billion kronor, of which a large portion will come back to the state in the form of taxes.

We do not expect any further payments according to the state wage guarantee beyond these amounts, says Gustav Persson, section manager at the Tax Authority, to the newspaper.
