Sam Kendricks, USA, and Emmanouil Karalis, Greece, silver and bronze medalists at the Olympic Games in Paris last summer, are attempting to challenge the Swedish world number one and world record holder (6.26).
They are joined by the majority of the world elite.
New in this context is the Norwegian Sondre Guttormsen, gold medalist at the indoor European Championship 2023.
The young Frenchman Thibaut Collet is another exciting challenger. It has been clear for some time that the former world record holder Renaud Lavillenie, France, will participate in the Mondo Classic for the first time.
The former World Championship finalist and "Mondo's" training companion, Ben Broeders from Belgium, has also been confirmed as a participant in the competition.
"Competing on home ground in Uppsala gives me a special feeling, as I always want to perform at the top here at my own pole vault gala. The jumpers coming to IFU arena were my toughest competitors during the Olympic Games and will be so again at the indoor World Championship in China", says Duplantis in a press release.
Nine participants are confirmed. The tenth will be selected in February.
