Stars Gather in Manchester to Honor Boxing Legend Ricky Hatton

Boxing icon Ricky Hatton was buried in Manchester on Friday. Thousands mourned his final journey through the city. One of them was football icon Wayne Rooney.

Ricky Hatton was found dead in his home on September 14. The British police suspect no crime.

When he was buried on Friday, several major British profiles were in place. Including Wayne Rooney, the artist Liam Gallagher and the boxer Tyson Fury.

Hatton had a strong connection to Manchester and the football club Manchester City, who paid tribute to him on the big screen outside their arena.

During his career, Hatton became World Champion in both light welterweight and welterweight, before ending his professional career in 2011. Last year, the Englishman was inducted into the Boxing Hall of Fame.

The boxing profile has been open about his struggle with mental illness and drug problems throughout his life.

He was 46 years old.
