G7 countries' leaders are likely to agree on calling for de-escalation between Israel and Iran, says UK's Prime Minister Keir Starmer.

I think there is a consensus on de-escalation, says Starmer to reporters in connection with the summit in Canadian Kananaskis.

The leaders must now agree on a clear path forward, according to Starmer.

But the risk that the conflict escalates is obvious, I think, and the consequences – not just for the region but globally – are truly enormous, so the focus must be on de-escalation.

The Prime Minister says he has had time to talk to most of the G7 leaders since they arrived at the summit, and that he has spoken on the phone with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.
