The film is one of SF Studios' major investments for the year and is directed by Alexandra-Therese Keining ("Pojkarna"), who also wrote the script.
The story revolves around four friends who have just become pensioners. Together, they go on a trip to Italy where Helena Bergström's character has inherited an olive farm. Once there, they start thinking about whether it's really necessary for them to return to their old life in Sweden.
The filming is currently taking place in Italy and the cast also includes names like Peter Haber and Peter Dalle.
"I've been longing to make an ensemble film about timeless friendship, and getting to bring to life an original idea in one of the world's most beautiful places feels fantastic. To also get to unite Sweden's foremost actors with their Italian colleagues in a ridiculously funny feature film is a creative adventure I'm looking forward to immensely!", says Alexandra-Therese Keining in a press release.
"The journey to Piemonte" will have its cinema premiere in 2026.
