"After yesterday's home game, I unfortunately let my emotions take over and I ended up in an unnecessary discussion with some of our supporters who, for understandable reasons, were disappointed after the game. I overreacted in that situation and therefore want to apologize to all those involved", he says in an open letter on the club's website.

When the team was chasing an equalizer, the 34-year-old received an unnecessary red card for "abuse of officials". After the final whistle, the Canadian got into a heated argument and gestured towards his own fans. His teammates tried to hold him back and dragged him from the sidelines.

"I must learn from what has happened and I now look forward to focusing on what we all burn for: to fight together for Luleå Hockey and to be able to take further victories, starting with the home game against HV71 tomorrow (Thursday)".

Luleå lost the rivalry match 1–3.
