3 people have died and 81 people have been injured when a stand in Algeria collapsed in connection with a football match between MC Alger and NC Magra.
It was during the celebration of MC Alger's league victory in the top division that a fence burst on the upper stand. Algeria's president Abdelmadjid Tebboune expressed his condolences in a post on X.
"On the occasion of the painful event that affected the supporters of MC Alger today at the 5 July stadium, I can do nothing but pray for the deceased supporter", he writes.
As a result of the tragedy, the official prize ceremony has been cancelled.
