The production company Strive Stories, founded by author Jens Lapidus, is behind the film together with producer Nicklas Wikström Nicastro and director Mårten Klingberg, writes Variety.
The filmmakers have not yet announced who will play Stålfarfar.
It was 1951 that Gustaf Håkansson became famous overnight. He was too old to be allowed to participate in the Sweden Race on bicycle between Haparanda and Ystad.
Then the 65-year-old man with the bushy beard set out and cycled large parts of the competition – with the number 0 on his number tag. And it went very fast. When the press got wind of Håkansson's exploits, he was dubbed Stålfarfar and met with large crowds of spectators wherever he went.
Thanks to starting earlier than the elite every day and cycling longer into the evenings, he was the first to reach the finish line in Ystad, half a day ahead of the others.
