The 32-year-old discus thrower secured the win after a throw of 68.36 meters in the third round.

Ståhl has been in good form lately. Last week, he threw over 70 meters in Estonia, and even though he did not reach that figure now, today's result was enough to take home the victory.

It was good power in the legs but not the world's best hit. 68 is good in such conditions: 37 degrees and windless. It was good, says Ståhl after the competition.

Behind Ståhl, Germany's Mika Sosna finished second with a throw of 66.17, and British Lawrence Okoye became third after reaching 65.83 meters.

Thanks to Ståhl's first place and second places from both Thobias Montler and Maja Åskag, Sweden is now in eighth place ahead of Sunday's conclusion.

Åskag jumped 14.18 meters in the triple jump, which was her best jump for the season and nine centimeters from her personal best.
