"SSAB is delivering on schedule and on budget. The fact that external factors beyond our control are now forcing a postponement of the commissioning is therefore extremely frustrating," said Johnny Sjöström, president and CEO of SSAB, in a press release.
SSAB's commissioning of the furnace was planned for early next year. No new date has been announced.
The delay is not expected to affect SSAB's results and cash flow this year. Production and deliveries to customers are also not expected to be affected.
SSAB also has problems with suspected hazardous substances that have temporarily halted work on the construction of the new green steel mill in Luleå.
