SSAB has claimed that the cases of illness were due to a combination of dust, weather and viruses in the affected individuals. This was criticised by the County Administrative Board, which subsequently requested a more thorough investigation, including into the substances vanadium and calcium hydroxide.
However, SSAB believes that the tests are not justified in relation to the benefit. In its response to the authority, the company writes, among other things, that some of them can cost up to 3.5 million SEK and take 16 weeks.
It also believes that the issue of further investigations belongs to the Swedish Work Environment Authority - not the County Administrative Board.
