SSAB's new steel plant in Luleå is being delayed by twelve months, the company writes in a press release. The start of operations is then moved from the end of 2028 to the end of 2029.
According to the company, the delay is due to the transmission network to the new steel plant not being delivered according to plan. To enable the electricity supply to the steel plant, among other things, the existing main grid station in Svartbyn needs to be modernized, the company writes.
SSAB has initiated a dialogue with Vattenfall Eldistribution and Svenska kraftnät, which are responsible for the expansion of the transmission network.
