Bruce Springsteen has released a protest song about events in Minneapolis and the two people who were shot dead by federal police.

In the song, “Streets of Minneapolis,” both victims – Alex Pretti and Renee Good – are mentioned by name.

Springsteen sings about “Trump’s federal thugs” and how they “tread on our rights.”

"I wrote this song last Saturday, recorded it yesterday, and released it today because of the state-sponsored terror that is plaguing the city of Minneapolis," Springsteen wrote on

.

He wrote that the song was dedicated "to the people of Minneapolis, our innocent immigrant neighbors, and in memory of Alex Pretti and Renee Good."

Earlier in January, Springsteen made headlines when he compared the federal immigration enforcement agency ICE to the Gestapo from the stage.
