The "Viral 50 Sweden" playlist on Spotify is a compilation of the songs that have received the most attention in Sweden.
However, 18 out of 50 songs, corresponding to 36 percent, are AI songs. The "Country Digital Song Sales" list was also topped by an AI song for a period.
It is very difficult to find out who the people behind it are. Usually these songs are spread by distributors, who act as intermediaries between the creator and the platform, says Bob Sturm, professor of computer science at KTH.
In an email to SVT, the company writes that it is actively working to remove frivolous AI content and that it has deleted over 75 million spam tracks in the past year.
