The label will appear in artist profiles, search results and playlists from mid-September. The aim is to distinguish fake artists from real people.
Music from AI-tagged artists will also not be included in editorial or personalized recommendations, unless the user is actively following the artist.
Musicians will have the option to indicate whether their identities are AI-generated, but Spotify will also use human review and AI-based analytics tools to determine which profiles to label.
“Listeners have been clear in saying that they don't like seeing AI profiles that appear human, only to discover that their identity is AI-generated,” the company writes on its website.
