To the delight of many parents, shared family listening will no longer affect the account's statistics or personalised recommendations, writes Billboard.
Previously, music from a children's film or a song that, at the request of the younger members of the family, has been played on repeat roughly 700 times has influenced both the personal taste profile, listening recommendations and the annual summary.
The change applies to both free and premium users, and the “opt-out of including children and family music” feature in the taste profile must be activated manually.
The change also applies retroactively, meaning that the impressive number of listens to music from children's favourite films that parents have already accumulated will no longer be counted in the statistics once the setting has been turned off.
